You are excited as well as anxious as it is your time to move from home to college and start a brand new life.

The College To Do List: By Interstate Movers

Couple with moving boxes.Your professional interstate movers are also there to help you out at this stage.

1. Contact your room mate

Connecting with your room mate can make a difference, you can figure out who is bringing what.

2. Decide what to buy

Decide what kind of computer you want. Is it powerful enough to support your graphics programs or economic models you’ll need for your major?

3. Know your finances

Make sure you have your finances sorted. You do not want it to get in the way of academic success.

4. Understand your budget.

From day one plan out your expenses, especially at the end of the month, so that you do not have to borrow from your room mate.

5. Make a List

You have too much going on shopping for clothes and school supplies, etc., you can’t possibly remember every single thing. Check off each task on list as and when you complete it, you will feel more accomplished.

6. Plan according to space available

This does not mean you only analyse the size of your dorm room and closet but also think of your vehicle size. Professional Home interstate movers can help you out with your move. You can keep your excess luggage with them. In case of a tiny closet in your dorm room, nothing can be done about it. You have to think about what you want to carry.

7. Call Professionals

As discussed, if there is lack of space in your car to transport the essentials, send it before you arrive there. When you are utilizing professional interstate movers, keep the lightest items in the boxes.

8. Pack an Essential Kit

Keep an essential kit with you, comprising clothes, toiletries, cellphone charger, snacks, etc. It is not planned that you are going to settle immediately after reaching your dorm. You may decide to see how nice the weather is, hit the beach or explore the city even. These are the times when this kit comes in handy. This kit must be unpacked first.

Forget Me Not Items:

  • Quarters – It is one of the highest-demand items on a college campus.
  • Sewing kit
  • Detergent and fabric softener – Buy a small box and not a big box because bulk is cheaper. You do not want to carry 25 pounds of detergent down three flights of stairs every time you wash your clothes.
  • Shower shoes
  • Laundry basket, hamper, or bag
  • Shower caddy – You’ll need it to carry your shower items (soap, shampoo, conditioner, razor, etc.) from your room and back.
  • Robe – This for those who do not want to walk from the bathroom to their room in a towel.
  • First aid kit
  • Fridge and microwave – Essentials for most college students. Make sure, though, that you coordinate with your roommate before bringing either of these.
  • Small toolkit – A basic toolkit with a small hammer, screwdriver (with different kinds of tips), wrench, tape measure, and a few other essentials will come in very handy during your time at school.
  • Hangers
  • Power strip with surge protection.
  • Extension cords
  • Cup, bowl, plate, fork, knife, and spoon
  • Can opener
  • Small items for clean-up – This can include Clorox wipes, paper towels, a rag or two, or a few sponges.
  • Keychain
  • Extra-long sheets
  • Flash/jump/thumb drive
  • Laptop lock
  • Printer paper
  • Small fan – Most residence halls don’t have air conditioning and can get pretty hot during the summer.
  • Umbrella
